The joy of nothing & hugs

I spent today doing absolutely nothing.
And I loved every minute of it.
It was filled with hugs & kisses, that never gets tired :)

I hope your Halloween weekend has been creepy cool. Jordan & I went as an old Shanghai couple this year. Not too creative but it cost us nothing and was totally last minute. Photos to follow!

Sunny Sundays

There's something comforting about sitting in the sunshine. We've been blessed with gorgeous weather today and Jordan's up on the rooftop working while I bask on his couch in the sun with Bright Star on Netflix. I love the English 19th Century. Why can't men write poetry like that now?

This weekend, I got to see David Choi live as he was on tour. I like his music and find him quite talented and tickets were only $12! It was an intimate performance with FAR too many screaming high school asian girls and I was glad to be in a seated booth with my above 21 friends. HA! Nevertheless, the songs were good, I'm convinced to buy his album on iTunes and he sounds WAY better live than on Youtube.

I just simply find it amusing that someone can go from recording from the comfort of their home to selling tour tickets and performing to fans of screaming girls all over the country. Not too shabby for an unsigned artist eh?

Tonight, I'm anticipating a FEAST! A friend of mine is cooking us a home-grown Singaporean favourite, Bak Kut Teh. Yummy, Yummy! Hope your weekend has been as flavourful as mine!

flutter.

So I've recently discovered how some girls have AMAZING lashes. Yes, there are several women here in NYC who go to their doctors for Latisse® but I've found a less invasive way to get gorgeous lashes. While in Asia, I used to get my eyelashes permed once in while, but that process merely curls them for extended periods of time.

Recently, thanks to a group-buy website, I decided to give myself eyelash extensions! Just around the corner from my workplace, it was convenient and affordable, thanks to Tippr! I did my research and its perfectly safe, as safe as using mascara. The process is tedious, it takes about 2 hours to get a full set done because each lash extension is applied to each of your own individual lashes. I got to choose my curl and length and even fell asleep in the process!

2 HOURS LATER: GORGEOUSLY long & luscious eyelashes. It looks like I'm wearing falsies but they feel like my own! I did go for a more dramatic look so mine were curlier & longer than a natural look.

1 WEEK LATER: A few have fallen out but they have weathered a facial, spinning & cardio kickboxing. Maintaining them isn't as hard as I thought. No rubbing of your eyes (which isn't good for you anyway = wrinkles!) and avoid any oil based products (like makeup remover). So far, so good. My only gripe is I had no idea how fast eyelashes grow! As they grow, the extensions sometimes get heavy and get weighed down and sometimes can be a little annoying. Nothing an eyelash comb can't fix.

END RESULT: I think I am doomed. I love these eyelashes so much I'm afraid that once they do fall out, I'll miss them too much. Yet another beauty ritual to keep up with! As if waxing, facials, laser hair removal isn't enough! It also doesn't help that my boyfriend thinks they look fabulous! HA!

Tdot - I like :)

Despite actually being sick while in Toronto, I had a brilliant time. It was one of those weekends which had the perfect mix of partying, chilling, sleeping & eating and it couldn't have been better. Except for the weather, it could have been warmer. I was NOT prepared for freezing nights whilst strolling Nuit Blanche. But it was a good time and we had a fabulous host, who let me sleep on an amazing memory foam mattress which probably helped me feel better to go party at night :)
